Designing for SISATA’s performance at the Portland Batteries. These costumes were created individually to create an ensemble inspired by the visual elements of the Batteries. As the textile coordinator for the group, I organised the fabric samples to present to the client and discussed the best way to incorporate all the different elements of the batteries. To keep our pieces cohesive, I created a screen to print the same lichen effect on all our designs with a puff binder. With the group’s sustainability officer, we purchased the fabrics used second hand and experimented with different textiles techniques which utilised recycling and reduced waste.
